Expense categories (once)

Expenses › Expense Categories › Add: Rent, Transport, Electricity, Salaries, Airtime… Categories let you see where money goes.

Adding an expense

  1. Go to Expenses › Add Expense, or Add Expense on the POS top bar for money paid from the till.
  2. Choose the Business Location, Expense Category, date and Expense for (optional: the staff member it relates to).
  3. Enter the Total amount, any tax, and a note.
  4. Under payment, record how it was paid (cash, M-Pesa, bank). Leave it unpaid if you'll pay later.
  5. Optional: tick Is recurring for monthly costs like rent, and attach a receipt photo.
  6. Save.

Expenses reduce Net profit on the dashboard and the Profit/Loss report. Cash expenses paid from the till also show on the cash register summary.

Tip: Reports › Expense Report shows spending by category, which is useful for spotting costs that are creeping up.
