Payment methods — renaming and turning them on or off

Rename spare payment methods (e.g. to M-Pesa, Equitel or Bank) and choose which ones each shop accepts.

For business admins Updated 13 Oct 2026

TechFusion has built-in methods (Cash, Card, Cheque, Bank Transfer, Other) and Custom Payment 1–7 that you can rename.

Renaming a custom payment method

  1. Go to Settings › Business Settings › Custom Labels.
  2. Under Payment methods, type your names, e.g. Custom Payment 1 = M-Pesa, Custom Payment 2 = Airtel Money, Custom Payment 3 = Equitel.
  3. Click Update Settings.

Choosing which methods each shop accepts

  1. Settings › Business Locations, then Actions › Edit on the location.
  2. Under Payment options, tick only the methods you actually accept there. Untick Cheque, Custom Payment 4–7 and so on if you don't use them.
  3. Optional: choose the default account for each method if you use payment accounts.
  4. Save.

The POS and the mobile app then show only those methods, so cashiers can't pick the wrong one.

Tip: Keep Custom Payment 1 as M-Pesa if you've connected M-Pesa, and leave it ticked. The M-Pesa button depends on it. See Setting up M-Pesa.
