Before you start
- Your cash register must be open. The first time you open POS each day you'll be asked for the cash in hand (your opening float). See Opening and closing the cash register.
- Check the Location at the top-left of the POS screen. Stock and prices are per location.
Step by step
- Click POS in the top bar (or Sell › POS).
- Choose the customer. "Walk-In Customer" is selected by default. To sell to a named customer, type their name or phone number in the customer box, or click + to add a new one.
-
Add products in any of these ways:
- tap a product tile on the right (filter with Category, Brands or Featured);
- type the name or SKU in Enter Product name / SKU / Scan bar code and pick it from the list;
- scan the barcode with a scanner.
- Adjust quantities with − and +, or type the quantity. Tap the product name to change its price, discount or note (if your role allows it).
- Check the totals bar: items, subtotal, discount, order tax, shipping and Total Payable.
-
Take payment with one of the buttons at the bottom:
- Cash: records full cash payment straight away.
- M-Pesa: see Receiving M-Pesa payments.
- Card: records full card payment.
- Multiple Pay: split between methods, enter the amount tendered and see change. See Payment methods.
- Credit Sale: the customer pays later. See Credit sales.
- The receipt prints (or opens to print) and the screen clears for the next customer.
Other buttons
Draft, Quotation and Suspend save the cart without completing payment. See Drafts, quotations and suspended sales. Cancel empties the cart.
Tip: Recent Transactions (bottom-right) lists today's sales so you can reprint, edit or check a sale without leaving the POS.
Note: If a product doesn't appear when you search, see A product is not showing on the POS screen.
