- Go to Products › Add Product.
- Fill in the main details:
- Product Name (required): what cashiers and customers see.
- SKU: your product code. Leave it blank to create one automatically. If the item already has a barcode, enter the barcode number here so scanning works.
- Barcode Type: leave as Code 128 unless you print a specific type.
- Unit (required): Piece, Bag, Litre… See Units.
- Brand, Category and Sub category (optional, for filtering and reports).
- Business Locations: tick every shop that sells it. A product only appears on the POS of the locations it is assigned to.
- Manage Stock? Keep it ticked for physical goods so stock is counted. Untick it for services such as delivery, labour or repairs.
- Alert quantity: you'll be warned when stock falls to this level.
- Optional: Product image, Product Description, Weight, custom fields.
- Product type: Single for one price. Use Variable for sizes or colours. See Variable products.
- Set prices:
- Default Purchase Price: what you pay the supplier (excluding or including tax).
- x Margin (%): your markup. The selling price is calculated for you.
- Default Selling Price: what customers pay. You can type it directly instead of using a margin.
- Applicable Tax: if the product is taxed.
- Click Save, or Save & Add Opening Stock to enter the quantity you have now. See Opening stock.
Tip: Not for selling (in the extra options) hides an item from the POS. Use it for raw materials or items you only use internally.
Note: Adding many products? It's faster to import them from Excel.
