Entering opening stock

Record the quantities you already have on the shelf when you start using TechFusion POS, with their cost.

Updated 13 Oct 2026

Opening stock is the stock you already own on the day you start. It is different from a purchase because you didn't just buy it.

For one product

  1. Products › List Products, then on the product row Actions › Add or Edit Opening Stock. Right after creating a product you can also use Save & Add Opening Stock.
  2. For each location, enter the Quantity and Unit cost (what you paid per unit).
  3. Optional: lot number and expiry date if you use them.
  4. Click Save.

For many products

Use Products › Import Opening Stock: download the template, fill in SKU, location, quantity and unit cost, then upload.

Important: Enter opening stock once. To correct quantities later, use a Stock Adjustment. To add newly bought goods, record a Purchase. Editing opening stock changes your history and reports.

Tip: The unit cost matters: it is used to calculate your profit when the stock is sold.
