Categories, brands and units

Categories and sub categories

Products › Categories › Add. Use categories for groups customers recognise, such as Fertilizers, Seeds or Animal Feeds. Tick Add as sub category to create a group inside another one. Categories appear as filters on the POS and in reports.

Brands

Products › Brands › Add. Brands help you filter the POS, set brand discounts and report sales by brand.

Units

Products › Units › Add. Enter the Name (e.g. Bag), Short name (e.g. bag) and whether decimals are allowed (allow them for kg or litres, not for pieces).

Selling in bulk and single units

To sell both cartons and single pieces of the same stock:

1. Create the base unit, e.g. Piece.
2. Add another unit, e.g. Carton, tick Add as multiple of other unit and set 1 Carton = 24 Piece.
3. On the product, choose Piece as the unit. Where sub-units are enabled, you can then sell or buy in Cartons and stock is converted automatically.

Tip: Keep names short and consistent. They appear on receipts, labels and stock reports.
